SUNDAY DINNER

I like Sunday dinners at home.  I am in charge and I can decide what I want to cook and usually I opt for a roast as its easy enough to prepare and serve. Tonight, with excellent quality steaks on hand, I decided on black pepper steaks.  Some sea salt, coarse black pepper, and a sizzling hot pan with a dollop of butter.

Parboiled carrots drizzled with olive oil are finished off in a preheated oven and for carbo, I prepared mashed potatoes with a twist.  To lower the calorie count I added boiled, mashed cauliflower to the mashed potato mix.  A quick pop in the oven gives the surface area a slightly burnt crust.  Dinner is served!

SUNDAY DINNER AT HOME

After a long week and before the start of a new week the family, barring other engagements, will have dinner together.  Usually I'd cook to avoid the hassle of Sunday evening traffic, parking woes and full restaurants.  The easiest for me is to prepare a roast, make a salad and tonight I also made a pie......Now we're all done, having our coffee and fruits.

SATURDAY DINNER

We made plans to meet up with a friend for dinner.  We decided on the PeraMakan Restaurant at Santa Grand Hotel East Coast.  Excellent company, wine and food.

FRIDAY LUNCH

We had a dinner function to attend last night so we decided on a 'light' lunch. This was indeed a perfect way to enjoy a satisfying meal without feeling that we'd overeaten. The accompanying clear soup is TDF too!

Eng's Noodle House

You'd appreciate this only if you're an Eastsider and a fan of Eng's wanton noodles. They've moved from their old haunt at Dunman Food Centre to their own shop down on Tg. Katong Road.  Nice!

Today, the man and I lunched @ the PeraMakan restaurant at the Santa Grand Hotel East Coast.
The whole of East Coast Road was a mind boggling conundrum - people, vehicles, more people.  The hotel/restaurant is situated across the road from The Holy Family church and Mass was just over........parking henceforth was a problem.  The limited parking lots at the back of the hotel are reserved for hotel guests and not for patrons of the restaurant.  This hotel is a conservation project with the old pre-war houses serving as the base and the hotel being built upwards.  This hotel is a small chain as they are located in other locations as well.  I'd imagine that this is a 'better' location as its in a 'good' part of the East.......by that I mean its not in errr...OK....you can google it and find out the other locations.  I think the restaurant is also part of a small chain......

On a hot Sunday afternoon in Singapore, the above attire would be best way to go.
